Meters UK have been awarded a £35000.00 contract on behalf Acumen Technical to provide and commission the heat and water meters for the new Hinkley Point C Campus living accommodation.
EDF Energy is to build Hinkley Point C in Somerset which is the site for a new nuclear power station, the first in the UK for a generation. It will produce low-carbon electricity which will contribute to the UK’s climate goals.
Hinkley Point Campus is considered to be the largest hotel style development in the UK. When completed in 2018/19 it will provide 1,496 en-suite bedrooms across 44 individual buildings at two key locations.
The campus will provide accommodation for workers during construction which will take 10 years. When completed the facility will provide 7% of the UK’s electricity.
To meter the accommodation Meters UK will provide the TOMi multi jet meter for the water and the HCM4 digital type heat meter with accurate silicon smart sensors to measure the flow and return temperatures for the heating. Commissioning of the meters will be done once the meters have been installed.
Anderson Green are the mechanical consultants for the project for which we were specified.
Update:
A site visit was made by David Sivertsen on Wednesday 27th November, to ensure that our HCM4000 heat meters have been correctly installed, connected and are working. The meters in 5 of the buildings have been installed. After sorting out a few snags the meters are now up and running. Note our unique smart heat digital probes connecting to the flow pipes.
Acumen Technical are doing a fantastic job. Hats off to the team!!
