Which meter do I need for my site?
Start with the utility and installation type: electric, gas, water, heat, prepayment or remote reading. For electric meters, the supply type matters too, such as single phase, three phase, direct connected or CT operated. If you are unsure, send the load, pipe size, reading method and site type and the team can point you to the right range.
Do I need a MID-approved meter for billing or cost recovery?
If readings are being used for trade, billing or tenant cost recovery, choose a meter approved for that use. The GB Measuring Instruments Regulations cover water meters used for trade, gas meters for use for trade and active electrical energy meters for use for trade. Can Smartlink handle more than one utility?
Yes. Meters UK describes Smartlink as multi-utility ready, with prepayment and meter-reading setups able to work across up to three utilities depending on the site and meter configuration. The exact setup is quoted after the team confirms the property, meters and communications route.
How quickly can meters be dispatched?

Can I use prepayment meters to recover tenant utility costs?

Do heat networks need metering?
Heat network obligations sit with the heat supplier or operator, not simply the meter supplier. GOV.UK guidance says heat suppliers must install metering devices on heat networks unless it is not technically or financially feasible, and Ofgem now regulates heat networks in Great Britain. Meters UK can supply heat meters, but the compliance position should be checked for your network.
What should I send for a project or bulk quote?
