Set on the southern edge of Bertha Loch, among rolling hills and mature woodland, Bertha Park is just a short drive from Perth city centre. This new Springfield village offers a great opportunity to cut down on commuting for anyone working in the city but living further afield. With 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes available, you can live on the doorstep of this vibrant city while retaining a real rural feel with all the benefits of a growing community with it’s own facilities within the village core.
For those working further afield there’s easy access to the A9, feeding into the national roads network. The new ‘Cross Tay Link Road’ runs through the heart of Bertha Park and will service the new village. Providing a third crossing over the Tay, the new road runs to the north of Scone and promises to relief congestion within the Perth city centre.
Within Bertha Park there will be local shops, hospitality, leisure and space for further businesses. Throughout the development there will be access to green spaces such as cycle routes and paths, parks and walks around the loch side. Just to the south there is the Inveralmond Retail Park which has Marks & Spencer, Tiso, Aldi, a pet shop and more. Perth city centre also has a variety of high street names and independent shops along with restaurants, bars and Peth Playhouse, an art deco cinema opened in 1934. Which has 7 screens, screen one has recently been upgraded to an IMAX.
Bertha Park High school is scheduled to open in August 2019. This new high school will have places for 1,100 pupils including places for pupils with additional support needs. The Bertha Park development will be in the catchment area for this new school.
There are a number of care and education facilities close to Bertha Park including 2 nursery schools, 5 primary, 2 high and Perth College.
In light of the new development at Bertha Park, Perth Presbytery has designated the area a Presbytery Mission Initiative (PMI). PMIs allow local congregations to support outreach in an area outside of their parish. Riverside’s Leaders have taken on the role of supervising this work and we are also represented on the PMI Core Leadership Team. This mission initiative provides an exciting opportunity to dream about how to develop Christian community in a new way.
